Cape Town

Affectionately known as the Mother City, Cape Town is South Africa´s oldest city and has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years. Founded in 1652 by Dutch settler Jan van Riebeeck, Cape Town is rated as one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Cape Town has a relaxed atmosphere and offers visitors a host of outdoor leisure activities, as well as all the amenities of a world-class city at the sea. A visit to the vibrant, buzzing city of Cape Town is guaranteed to be one of the most memorable, fantastic experiences all in a breathtaking geographical setting framed by mountains and two oceans.

Major tourist attractions include catching the cable-car up Table Mountain to enjoy a panorama of the city and peninsula; taking a ferry to historic Robben Island; drinking tea at Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and visiting the Castle of Good Hope. For outdoor lovers, the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, adorned in delicate indigenous character, affords spectacular views over two oceans in all directions. There are numerous hikes and trails all around Cape Town for more energetic visitors. Of course if you’re a wine-lover, then taking in a wine route tour through Stellenbosch is an absolute must.

Magnificent beaches line the Atlantic seaboard - Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandudno to name just a few, and warmer waters can be found at Muizenberg, Fish Hoek, St James and Strand.  Shopping possibilities are abundant at the Victoria & Alfred (V &A) Waterfront, Cavendish Square and Canal Walk, while quirky fleamarkets can be found at Greenmarket Square, Green Point and Hout Bay. If it´s pulsating nightlife you´re after, Camps Bay itself offers plenty of hotspots.  Additionally, Long Street within the Cape Town City Centre provides trendy dining (and partying) at its absolute best.

The Residences are located at 98 Camps Bay Drive, Camps Bay.

Cape Town International Airport is a hub for South African Airways. Cape Town International is the second-largest airport in South Africa and a major gateway for tourist traffic. It has also been announced recently by the civil aviation authority, that Cape Town International will serve as the 2010 World Cup western air hub, serving additional air traffic that may occur from the Americas.

South Africa has 50 international airlines flying between its major cities and 7 domestic African airlines, with fares ranging from first-class to cut-price economy. In anticipation for 2010 World Cup, the domestic terminals are receiving a complete face-lift in conjunction with a new central terminal building at a cost of R900 million, linking the international and domestic terminals. Flights from Europe are generally overnight (from London - 12 hours) with direct flights from the USA being about 15 hours.

If you are leaving the airport by car take the N2 highway and follow the signs for Cape Town/Camps Bay. Taxis are available from the airport to the city centre (journey time: 20 minutes); Touch Down Taxis is the officially authorised airport taxi company and travellers are advised to use these instead of unauthorised taxis. Door-to-door shuttle bus services are available on demand or by pre-booking in Arrivals (International and Domestic). Schedules vary according to flight arrival times; passengers can also pre-book their return trip to the airport.

Camps Bay

Camps Bay is all about its spectacular beach. Withthe Twelve Apostles Mountain as its backdrop, Camps Bay is definitelythe most fashionable place to see and be seen in Cape Town

CampsBay is at its most popular during the summer months. During this timeboth local and international visitors come here to enjoy the beautifulbeach as well as the numerous cafes, restaurants and bars that spillout onto the beachfront.

The beach is crescent shaped and isin our opinion the prettiest in Cape Town. Yachts come and drop anchoroff the beach during season creating a Mediterranean feel!

Thereare a wide variety of clubs in Camps Bay. Party at the fashionableIgnite Nightclub where celebrities from Robbie Williams and ColinFarrell have been known to visit. Watch the sun go down at Paranga,Caprice or the Sand Bar where sundowner cocktails are served on thebeachfront road. Join the locals at La Med, a lively bar where rugbyand cricket matches are screened, this large bar has spectacular viewsof the beach and parties until the very early hours of the morning!

Thereare some fantastic restaurants in Camps Bay. The most famous of whichis Blues Restaurant. Established in the late 1980s, Blues is almost aSouth African institution. Blues serves fresh seafood, local dishessuch as Venison and Ostrich, as well as international favourites. Openfor lunch and dinner, prebooking is absolutely essential and werecommend that you try and request a table close to the window, fromwhere you can enjoy uninterrupted views of the beach.
